Djokovic Refreshed Before Davis Cup

This was a terrible start for Novak Djokovic regarding this season's opening. And not only the last couple of months were disappointing for Djokovic, but the whole last season, after he clinched Roland Garros and made one of the biggest achievements in tennis history when he won all four Grand Slam tournaments in a row. He decided to miss last week's Miami Open tournament despite the fact that he could set the new record in Florida. If by any case Joker won that tournament, it would be his 7th title and he would be the king and absolute ruler in Miami.

But he did not want to risk worsening his elbow injury and he had other things in mind. One of them was Davis Cup clash with Spain. Djokovic always likes to play in front of his home ground in Serbia, especially if there is some strong opponent and to be honest, the Spanish national team is one of those. He is preparing for the clash, and yesterday he spoke to the media about everything that was happening with him lately.

"The Davis Cup is a very special event as it generates the kind of home crowd atmosphere you don’t see on the ATP Tour, so I am really looking forward to performing in front of our fans. I always draw very positive energy from the Davis Cup as it invariably brings out the best in me."

He spoke about his absence in Miami.

"Of course I wanted to be on the court and defend my title but it just didn't happen this time," Djokovic told a news conference in the Serbian capital's Aleksandar Nikolic arena.

After he dominated the courts for several years breaking many records and achieving fantastic results after last years French Open he just collapsed. His form is far away than it used to be, his performances at a lower level and it seems that his mental edge isn't quite sharp as it used to be.

But that will change according to 12-time Grand Slam champion.

He also added that missing tournament in Florida help him recharge his batteries and relax a little bit. Of course, the main reason why he missed it, his elbow injury also resulted in a good progress.

"At the same time, it was also rather refreshing to get some rest and sit out Miami at home with my wife and son. It was a quality family time which I don’t get enough of and it made me very happy," he said.

Season of clay is approaching and Djokovic sees his chance there because after Rafael Nadal he is the most dominant player on this turf.

This will be the crucial time for him because he has two options. Either is he going to overcome all difficulties and progress, or he will continue to struggle and let younger players take his place.
