We must say that Philipp Kohlschreiber is definitely one of the most interesting and amazing names on the ATP Tour. The experienced German is 33 years old and from the very first beginning of his career he was underestimated a lot. But this makes him a great player and that's why now he is competing at such a big level, winning game after game, title after title. He has combined seven titles as three of them were won here at ATP in Munich, Germany.
Exactly, this tournament will be the next ATP tour which we are going to present you this week as this is not only the last ATP 250 tour for the week, it is the cream of the crop as this is the most valued and quality tournament from all the three playing this week. Except the defending champion – Philipp Kohlschreiber, there are players like Jeremy Chardy, Sascha and Mischa Zverev, Roberto Bautista Agut and Gael Monfils, just like we mentioned yesterday in the article about ATP Istanbul. We think that this is the most powerful and quality tournament of the week and it is going to be the most interesting, no matter that Juan Martin Del Potro is playing in Estoril and Cilic and Raonic are playing in Turkey.
Definitely, according to the bookmakers the big favorite for this tournament is Gael Monfils as he is followed by Alexander Zverev, but we believe that Philipp Kohlschreiber is not that far from the favorites here as he has all the potential and quality to beat the big names in the tennis, just like he was doing it in the past few years. Of course, he missed lots of games due to different injuries but still he is one complete and skillful player. What we are saying is that, odds like 6.25 is pretty valued. Of course, it might be more, but they dropped after his first amazing win here against the young and talented Casper Ruud in straight sets.
Unfortunately, our favorite for winning the title here is in the first half of the scheme with the seeded number one – Gael Monfils and with the fourth seeded – Fabio Fognini. We think that this is not ideal for Kohlschreiber but beating one of those two strong players will give him the needed confidence and motivation to claim the trophy here for the fourth time in his epic career. We will see whether he will do it, of course, yesterday, we managed to follow his game and we must say that he was playing errorless with lots of quality rallies and shots. With such amazing play and form he is one of the titles contenders and he must not be underestimated from the bookies.
